We have been learning about the Yellow-Eyed Penguin.

With the help of his Teacher Aide, Dylan wrote this..

The yellow-eyed penguin is also called Hoiho. It is grey-blue, white, yellow and has pink feek. It has a yellow headband too. It lives by the sea and eats small to medium fish.

During Discovery Time we did Marble Art and what fun we had!!

First, we had to write our name on the back of our paper.
Then, we had to put our paper in the tote tray.
After that, we picked up a marble out of whatever colour we wanted to use and put it in the tray.
Then, we moved the tray side to side and front to back and our marble ran all over our paper.
We kept doing this with different colours until we had our art just the way we wanted it.

What a super messy activity but oh so much fun!

Friday is Discovery Time Day! How exciting. Today's focus was to think about a problem that we encounter and how we fixed our problem. There was a lot of great talking 'on the go' but we found it much harder to reflect about our problem solving. We'll try this again next week to help us better understand about problem solving and solutions.

We wrote fabulous taniwha stories last week and then we drew our pictures using Kidpix. We really like how our pictures match our descriptions that we had written.

We are learning to take risks this term so we combined this with our Marae visits and used our new learning about taking risks to create our taniwha art. We are really happy with how we took the time to think about creating exciting artwork. We used crayon and dye so had to think carefully about not colouring in all of the paper so that the dye had somewhere to soak in to. What a great job we did. What do you think?

We are spending the week writing about aliens. As inspiration, today we made our aliens out of modelling clay. Not one alien is the same as another! We used our imaginations to create them! Thanks Jessica for taking such great photos.

Yay it's camp day!! How exciting! We spent the morning exploring our classroom and playing with anything we wanted to. Miss Sharland was really impressed with how well we played together and how nicely we tidied up! Check out some of the things we did!

On Thursday, Jared's Mum brought in their boxer puppies for us to play with. It was fantastic and they were sooo cute. Miss Sharland wanted to take one home! Thanks Mrs Booth for bringing the puppies in and thanks Jessica for taking such great photos.

Buddy Class

We had buddy time with our Room 10 buddies on Friday. Our buddies are Year 5 and 6. They read us a picture book first and then we read them a book from our kitbox. If we hadn't finished our t-shirt work then they helped us to finish it. We all worked so well together and our buddies were so fantastic that we then spent 10 minutes playing together on the junior playground.
We are so lucky to have such awesome buddies.
Thank you Room 10.
