Maui and the Sun - middle

Maui and his brothers made flax ropes and they put them around the hole where the sun came up.  When the sun came up they hid and when Maui yelled "NOW" they jumped up and jumped up and grabbed the ropes.  The sun pulled this way and that but he could not get free.  Maui then beat the sun again and again and told him to slow down.  The sun said "Stop beating me.  Can't you see I'm almost dead".  "Let him go" said Maui.  "He won't be able to go that fast anymore".  Francis
